3D art has held my attention since I was in 9th grade. I was sitting in a computer graphics class browsing the internet and came across an online interactive demo for an early version of Bryce. Even though I was mostly using presets I was amazed at what could be done on a computer to create stunning digital models & environments. I was hooked.
At that point I was mainly only interested in CG as a hobby, and my post high school career decision had yet to be determined. Eventually I got to a point where I enjoyed CG art to the point where I thought I might like to make a career out of it. I decided to attended The Art Institute of Portland and majored in Media Arts & Animation. I graduated in March of 2007 and within a few weeks of graduating, was offered a job at American Animation Studios in Washington working on two straight-to-DVD animated features (Paul Revere: Midnight Ride & Patrick Henry – Quest for Freedom). I worked there as a contracted Lighting & Layout Artist for about nine months. I have since moved back to Oregon and am working in an unrelated field while I work on portfolio pieces and learn new artistic skills.
I would very much enjoy finding a job in the Bay area down south. San Francisco seems to be a hub for digital artists just as much as L.A. or New York seem to be as well.
